plans for restaurant
The Walnut Ridge Airport Commission discussed several lease issues at its meeting Monday night, including the potential of a new lease regarding the building currently occupied by Parachute Inn.
Commissioners approved drawing up a lease for Seth Hardage who has presented a plan to expand and renovate the building for an upscale restaurant.
Commissioners were also informed that the Laco lease has been signed and that West Machine Shop will be moved out of its leased space by Jan. 31.
Jim Hitt with Arkansas Thermal Spray discussed utilities issues on the building he shares with West Machine Shop. The commissioners asked Airport Manager Stacy Hoggard and Hitt to discuss the possibility of him renting the whole building or the old Frolic building.
Fuel truck approved
The commissioners also voted to have Hoggard contact Eastern Aviation and have a contract drawn up to purchase another 3,000-gallon jet truck.
Jet Fuel sales have increased over the past year with 68,160 gallons sold, with over 42,000 of that total sold to the military. With increased jet fuel operations, having two jet fuel trucks would enable the airport to keep 5,000 gallons on the ground at all times, with 10,000 gallons in the main tank.
Hoggard stated that by Jan. 31 the airport will have sold well over 10,000 gallons of jet fuel in 2018.
In other business, the commission:
approved the Municipal League vehicle insurance for 2018.
tabled discussion on hangar renovation until the next meeting.
tabled discussion on fence repair so that other bids can be taken.
