WR Airport seeks
funding for fuel farm
The Walnut Ridge Airport Commission voted to start the grant application process for a new fuel farm at the Oct. 23 meeting.
The fuel farm, which is used to store the airport's fuel, is over 40 years old. The commission has been looking at options to fund a replacement over the past few years.
Chair Don Cavenaugh said they plan to apply for a state grant through the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics. He added that the farm would be quite costly to replace and it would be a long process to get the funding.
Also at the meeting, commissioners approved:
the airport's capitol improvement plan, which is required by the Federal Aviation Administration in order for the airport to apply for grant funding.
a three-year lease with Hardage Aviation on hanger #17. Additionally the commission voted to install a separate meter in the hanger for commercial lessees who are required to pay their own electric.
