Many local and area businesses and individuals have donated goods or services to be auctioned at the event. A list of most items can be found in an advertisement on page 7B of this edition. Additional items and updates will also be available on the Walnut Ridge Annual Kiwanis Auction Facebook page.
Walnut Ridge High School Key Club members will assist Kiwanis members by answering phones during the auction. KRLW AM 1320 and FM 103.1, Combined Media radio stations, have donated airtime to broadcast the auction.
Winning bidders can pay for their auction items at First National Bank during regular banking hours next week.
Money raised from the auction will be used for Kiwanis service projects, which mostly benefit Lawrence County children and youth. A major project of the club is to provide Christmas gifts for all students at the Lawrence County Cooperative School in Portia.
Lisa Williams, auction chair, said some of the other Kiwanis service projects include funds for: The Children's Shelter, CASA, the BRAD Reading Is Fundamental program, school benevolent or backpack programs, Arkansas Blind Camp for Children and scholarships.
