Happy 45th, WR Walmart
Happy 45th anniversary to Walmart store number 57 in Walnut Ridge. I remember when the store opened, and I vaguely remember the rainy conditions after reading about them in the anniversary story. See page one.
Moreover, as a youngster, I remember visiting one of the first Walmart stores (then Wal-Mart) in Harrison. I remember it being much like a warehouse, and it having big stacks, cases or pallets of products.
Seeing what looked like hundreds of bottles of items, such as shampoo, was odd at a time when most stores had much smaller quantities of products. It seemed to resemble somewhat the look of a Sam's Clubs now, with regard to the stacks of merchandise.
