Hoxie plans street paving
The Hoxie City Council gave Mayor Lanny Tinker approval to move forward on paving projects during the Sept. 12 meeting.
With a budget of $100,000 for paving, the streets being addressed include: Pine, from Miller to Pecan; Cotter, from Pine to Miller; Second, from Peppers to Lewis; and Lewis, from Front to Third. Additional paving will be done on Maple as funds allow.
Also at the meeting, the council approved increasing the water reconnection fee from $15 to $35. This increase was necessary to match the cost incurred by the city when disconnecting and reconnecting water service.
In other business,
Tinker announced that Adam Pratt would be donating new welcome signs for Hoxie to honor the Lady Mustangs' state championship title. Pratt will be donating four signs to be placed at entrances to town.

Hoxie cleanup was also discussed. With 27 citations recently issued by code enforcement, Tinker announced several pieces of property have been addressed by the owner while others will be taken to court. The council discussed some eyesores around the city, including businesses that have excess junk near the roads. Citations have been given to those properties discussed, but will be revisited.
Tinker formed a committee to recommend employee raises for those earning licenses required for their job. Jerry Decker, Tim Taylor and Larry Couch were appointed to sit on the committee.
