Lady Mustangs win

The Hoxie senior high volleyball team took first place at the Cave City Classic on Saturday. The Lady Mustangs won the tournament without dropping a set.
Hoxie opened pool play by defeating Heber Springs 25-14, 25-11, then downed Southside 25-16, 25-18 to advance to bracket play as the top seed.
In bracket play, the Lady Mustangs began with a rematch against Southside. Hoxie once again dispatched the Lady Southerners 26-24, 25-16 to set up a meeting with Walnut Ridge in the semifinals. Hoxie eliminated the Lady Bobcats in two sets, 25-14, 25-17 to advance to the championship match.
Lady Cats open season with wins
The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats defeated Harrisburg 25-22, 25-18, 25-17 in senior high volleyball action on Aug. 22 at Harrisburg.
Anna Wilcoxson led the Lady Cats with a team-high 21 digs. Baylee Davis had an ace, a kill, nine assists and eight digs. Baylee Haskins finished with an ace, three kills and 10 digs. Jordyn Jones hammered 10 kills and added three digs, and Jacey Jones contributed a kill. Madi Mullen had two kills and 15 digs. Olivia Cox added two aces, a kill and a dig. Sydney Burgin had three aces, six kills, 10 assists and eight digs, and Sheridan Smith contributed a kill, two assists and three digs.
