County sees small
increase in enrollment
First-day enrollment totals for Lawrence County showed a slight increase over last year, increasing from 2,921 in 2016 to 2,938 in 2017.
Hillcrest School District and Imboden Area Charter School both showed increases in enrollment. Hillcrest took the biggest leap, going from 403 students on the first day in 2016 to 425 students this year. IACS increased one student from 63 in 2016 to 64 in 2017.
First-day figures for Hoxie School District mirrored those of last year coming in at 826 students, the same as the total from 2016.
Lawrence County and Sloan-Hendrix school districts, both showed a decrease in first-day enrollment.
Lawrence County (Walnut Ridge campus) recorded 946 students for first day enrollment in 2016, compared to 917 this year. Sloan-Hendrix reported 706 for its 2017 first-day total, compared to 728 last year.
Totals are for kindergarten through 12th grade and do not reflect students enrolled in preschool programs. Enrollment figures are preliminary as schools will experience fluctuations over the next few weeks.
