Fort Campbell Unit
visits WR Airport
Several local residents were on hand Sunday as a unit of Blackhawk and Chinook helicopters made a stop at the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport on their way back to Fort Campbell, Ky.
The unit had stopped previously and made plans to stop again on their way home.
Airport Commissioner Lloyd Clark who was on hand to represent the commission on Sunday, had reported to the commission at its last meeting that the hospitality given by Airport Manager Stacy Hoggard and her staff was outstanding.
While in Walnut Ridge on Sunday, some members of the unit had an opportunity to visit the Wings of Honor Museum, located at the airport. In addition, the airport provided lunch for the crews. Several local residents were also on hand to greet the visiting troops.
Hoggard said the return visit was ensured by the airport staff's efficient turnaround time and good hospitality during the unit's first visit.
During the return visit, the nine Blackhawks and four Chinooks did a coordinated ascent and flight formation as they headed back to their home base.
