Portia Picnic is next week
The 112th annual Portia Picnic will kick off Tuesday. The event, which was traditionally held around the July 4 holiday, is now held near the Memorial Day holiday.
Tuesday will be $1.50 ride night with armband nights planned the remainder of the week through Saturday, May 27. Armbands are $15 in advance at Portia City Hall or $20 on the carnival grounds.
Miller's Spectacular Shows will provide the midway.
In addition, Saturday, May 27, will feature vendors, as well as a free performance by Cody Noel and the Honky Tonk Heroes at 7 p.m.
The annually Portia Baby Show will be held at 10 a.m. on May 27. Registration for the baby show and the pageants, which will follow, begins at 8:30 a.m. Pageant divisions will be available for ages 13 months to 19 years for girls and 13 months to seven years for boys.
Pageant forms can be completed and entered in advance (see form on page 10A) with the $20 registration fee, or entries will be accepted the day of the pageant. There is no fee for Baby Show contestants, and all entries will be taken the day of the event.
