Lady Cats have busy week
The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcat softball team competed in the Lady Colt Softball Classic at Wilson last weekend. The Lady Cats won a pair of games on Saturday, defeating Gosnell 5-0 and host Rivercrest 10-9.
Against Gosnell, Briley Henson went 2-for-3, with a double. Baylee Davis had a hit and two RBIs.
Baylee Haskins led Walnut Ridge at the plate against Rivercrest, going 2-for-3, with a two-run home run.
Haskins was the winning pitcher in both contests.
Greyhounds slam Marmaduke
The Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds erupted for 11 runs in the first inning and never looked back en route to a 24-1 win over Marmaduke on March 28 at Imboden.
At the plate for Sloan-Hendrix, Jordan Dail and Brantley Gholson each had three hits. Devin Meeks, Logan Dail, Colby Johnson and Hunter Stallings each had two hits. Colton Dail, Riley Hale and Tyler Murphy had one hit apiece.
Meeks and Logan Dail each had four RBIs. Hale and Stallings drove in three runs apiece. Murphy had two RBIs, while Gholson and Johnson each had one RBI.
WR falls to Riverside, beats EPC, Highland, Melbourne
The Riverside Rebels scored six runs in the final two innngs to break a 5-5 tie and defeat Walnut Ridge 11-5 in high school baseball action on Saturday at Stewart Park.
Walnut Ridge led 2-1 after the first inning, before Riverside took a 4-2 lead with a three-run second inning. The Bobcats regained the lead at 5-4 with three runs of their own in the bottom of the third inning.
The Rebels tied the game with a run in the top of the fourth inning, and took the lead with a run in the sixth. They put the game out of reach with five runs in the top of the seventh.
Mustangs drop two games
The Hoxie Mustangs dropped a pair of baseball games in conference play last week.
Hoxie fell to the Corning Bobcats 8-4 on Thursday at Corning.
The Mustangs scored two runs in each of the first two innings and led 4-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth. Corning struck for six runs in the sixth to take a 6-4 lead, and added two runs in the sixth inning.
At the plate for Hoxie, Noah Wiles went 4-for-4 with two RBIs. A.J. Champion went 2-for-2 and scored two runs. Augustus Wicker went 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored a run. Spencer Decker went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Michael Eppes scored a run.
Hillcrest falls to Mammoth Spring
The Mammoth Spring Bears swept a baseball doubleheader from the Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles on Friday at Hillcrest.
In the first game, Mammoth Spring pitcher Logan Skaggs tossed a five-inning no-hitter in the Bears' 3-0 victory.
Mammoth Spring took the second game 10-2, also in five innings. Hillcrest scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but the Bears answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 4-2 lead. The Bears added two runs in each of the next three innings to pull away.
