Accident claims life

A two-vehicle accident on Highway 63 near Bono at 4:34 p.m. on March 15 resulted in the death of a 15-year-old Hoxie boy, according to a preliminary fatal crash summary released by the Arkansas State Police.

Eric Harmon, a student at Hoxie School, was a passenger in a 1998 Chevrolet, driven southbound on Highway 63 by Dustin Harmon, 18, of Hoxie.

According to Trooper Caleb Landreth's report, the Chevrolet crossed the centerline and hit a northbound 2011 Ford, driven by Carol Shearon of Hardy. There were also two children in her vehicle, ages 6 and 3, from Southaven, Miss.

Dustin Harmon, Shearon and passengers in the Ford were transported from the scene with injuries.

Funeral for Eric Harmon was Tuesday at noon at First Assembly of God in Walnut Ridge. A complete obituary can be found on in our records section.
