Imboden looking good in 2017

Imboden Mayor Chris Jones says the city of Imboden is in good shape going into 2017. With some recent commercial development and plans to develop additional housing, Jones said he expects good things to happen for Imboden and all of Lawrence County.

"Big changes are coming in the next five to 10 years," Jones said.

Imboden is already benefiting from a new NAPA Auto Parts recently built, owned and operated by a local family. Jones said there is also an auto repair business planning to open near the NAPA store.

Other developments include a new First National Bank building and a satellite disaster training facility, which Jones said may start hosting classes this year.

While some land is still available for commercial development, Jones said Imboden isn't well suited for large industrial development due to its terrain. However, he said that Imboden is well positioned to offer housing for those working across the county and in Pocahontas, adding that the lack of mosquitoes is a nice selling point.
