In the news...
For some local viewers, the dilemma on Monday night was whether to watch the college football championship, between Alabama and Clemson, or to watch Hoxie native Raven Gates on The Bachelor.
For many, the choice was to watch both, as Raven was granted another week on the ABC show and Clemson dethroned the 2016 champions, Alabama, in a rematch of last year's championship. The ballgame lasted much longer than The Bachelor and was a thriller that came down to the last second, when Clemson scored a touchdown to win, 35-31.
There has been other news relating to Lawrence County that hasn't been on primetime television.
Pictures of the Past
"It's hog killing time" people would say when the first good cold spell came about in autumn. This annual event occurred all across rural America as families and neighbors came together to help each other with the preparation of saving and storing pork meat. Lon Robbins, father of Juanita Johnson of Walnut Ridge, stands by a hog that is being prepared for cleaning in the Arbor Grove community.
