Accident victims identified

Two of three individuals who were killed in a Dec. 21 accident have been identified by the Arkansas State Crime lab, according to Tony Waldrupe, chief deputy with the Lawrence County Sheriffs' Department.

The identity of the drivers of the two vehicles, Tammy Jones, 51, of Walnut Ridge and Sam Vance, 63, of Sedgwick, have been confirmed through DNA testing.

Waldrupe said the name of a third victim, a passenger in Vance's vehicle, is still not being released. He said she is believed to be a resident of another state, which has caused a delay in getting the DNA match.

The accident occurred on Highway 63, north of Sedgwick, at approximately 4:30 p.m. when a 2004 Chevrolet, driven by Jones, crossed the centerline and struck a 2016 Dodge, driven by Vance, head on.

All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
