was a legend
Larry Sloan was nicknamed "Larry the Legend" by his tennis-playing buddies, called themselves the Weekend Warriors, on his 80th birthday. He definitely lived up to that nickname as he continued to play tennis into his 98th year, when he fell during a match.
Mr. Sloan died Saturday night at the age of 102 at his home at St. Bernards Village in Jonesboro. He was raised in the country on a farm in the Strawberry area and was a longtime resident of Walnut Ridge.
