S-H ladies beat WR
The Sloan-Hendrix Lady Greyhounds defeated Walnut Ridge 55-48 in senior girls basketball Friday night at Imboden.
Sloan-Hendrix led 13-12 at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Bobcats moved into a 24-23 halftime advantage. The Lady Hounds came back to lead 37-34 heading into the final quarter.
Brenda McCain led Sloan-Hendrix with 15 points, and Abbey Vance added 10 points.
Megan Jared led Walnut Ridge with a game-high 22 points.
Walnut Ridge won the junior girls game 34-29.
Lady Mustangs beat Rector
The Hoxie Lady Mustangs built a big first-half lead and went on to rout Rector 64-22 in senior girls basketball action Friday night at Hoxie.
The Lady Mustangs led 36-12 at the intermission and continued to pull away in the second half.
Devyn Pollard led Hoxie with 21 points. Bekah Kopp tossed in 15 points and Sydney Gillham added 11.
The Lady Mustangs improved to 6-3 with the win.
Hillcrest girls split with Tuckerman
Tuckerman defeated Hillcrest 59-31 in senior girls basketball action Friday at Lynn.
Carly Otwell led Hillcrest with 10 points and seven rebounds, and Mickayla Smith chipped in nine points.
The Hillcrest junior girls defeated Tuckerman 32-31.
Gabby Jones had seven points, while Marissa Murphy and Abby Orrick each scored six points for Hillcrest.
S-H falls to Cotter
The Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds suffered just their second loss of the season in a 66-60 setback to the Cotter Warriors in senior boys basketball Thursday night at Cotter.
The Greyhounds trailed 12-10 at the end of the first quarter, but exploded in the second period to surge into a 38-26 lead at halftime. Cotter chipped away in the third quarter and trimmed the Hounds' lead to 51-47 after three periods. The Warriors' momentum continued in the fourth quarter, when they outscored Sloan-Hendrix 19-9 to take the win.
Tyler Murphy led the Greyhounds with 20 points and nine rebounds. Colby Johnson scored 15 points, and Ben Meigs added 11.
