Clay and Desaray Bibb of Lone Tree, Colo., have announced the birth of their first child, a daughter, on Dec. 7, 2016, at Sky Ridge Women's Hospital in Lone Tree, Colo.

Grandparents are Ginger Bibb of Walnut Ridge, the late John Bibb and the late Crystal Karie Palinckx. She is the great-granddaughter of Jewel Snapp and the late C.R. Snapp of Walnut Ridge, Carol Palinckx of Westminster, Colo., and Richard Palinckx and Laurie Grosselfinger of Lakewood, Colo.

Cole Arnold McQuay

Cason and Rachel McQuay of Walnut Ridge have announced the birth of a son, born Dec. 5, 2016, at St. Bernard's Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed six pounds, 13 ounces, and has been named Cole Arnold McQuay. He has one sister, Carstyn.

Grandparents are John McQuay, Sherry McQuay and Crystal Daniels, all of Walnut Ridge, and Jonathan Land of Hoxie.

Great-grandparents are Don and Gail Arnold of Walnut Ridge, Reggie and Kathy Bennett of Paragould, Joe and Jutta McQuay of Jonesboro and Jack Land of Clover Bend and the late Sharon Land.

Bridges ~ Ramirez

Daniel and DeeDee Bridges of Clover Bend have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Allison Danielle Bridges, to Cristian Ramirez, son of Herminia Moralez Rameriz of Jonesboro and the late Carlos II Borsegi.

The bride-elect is a 2013 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School. She is an English major at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and is employed at Kandela's Restaurant in Jonesboro.

She is the granddaughter of Betty Bridges of Strawberry and the late Elmo Bridges, the late Phyllis Bridges, who lived in Cabot, and the late Herbert and Bobbie Knight, who lived in Walnut Ridge.

The prospective groom is also a 2013 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School. He is the assistant manager at Kandela's Restaurant in Jonesboro.

The couple will exchange vows on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the banquet room of the Hilton Garden Inn in Jonesboro. A dinner and reception will follow at the hotel.

Louise Carolyn Davis

Louise Carolyn Davis, 101, of Saffell, died Dec. 11, 2016, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 2, 1915, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of William Alonzo and Lucinda Ann Horton Eiland. She was a homemaker and was of the Assembly of God belief.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Johnny Sharp and Lester Davis; two sons, Elbert Sharp and Albert Sharp; and several half-brothers and half-sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Sharp, Saffell, and Lavelle Sharp, Harrisburg; a daughter, Carolyn Huskey, Saffell; nine grandchildren, Tunene Weston, Tamyra Huskey, Marisa Watkins, Lanae Bookout, Marlee Sharp, Rick Sharp, Terry Sharp, Tim Sharp and Kendall Sharp; and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is today at 11:30 a.m. at Union Cemetery in Saffell. Cox Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Mary M. Doyle

Mary M. Doyle, 90, of Moline, Ill., died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island in Rock Island, Ill.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. in Moline. Burial was at the National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal.

Memorials may be made to Rock Island County Animal Care & Control.

Mary was born on Feb. 25, 1926, in Lynn, the daughter of Lucian and Ora Hooten Lee. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Riverside. She married Robert Doyle on Sept. 27, 1942, in Strawberry, and he preceded her in death on March 22, 2003. She worked in several factories, including Service Rubber, The Rock Island Arsenal, Alcoa and John Deere.

Mary was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. during WWII. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and loved to go to yard sales. Mary was a member of Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Moline, where she taught Sunday school.

Survivors include her daughter, Betsy (Allen) Snow, Venice, Fla.; sons, Stephen (Penny) Doyle, Aledo, Ill., Ronald (Charlene) Doyle, Strawberry, Charles (Marcia) Doyle, Lynn Center, Ill., James (Kathleen) Doyle, Moline, Ill., and Robin Doyle, Moline, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a daughter, Carole Lee.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Rosewood Care Center as well as the hospice care unit at Trinity for their wonderful care and compassion.

Judy Ann Fears

Judy Ann Matthews Milgrim Fears, 62, of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 7, 2016, at her son's house in Bloomsdale, Mo.

Born Feb. 6, 1954, in Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of the late Henry Gene Matthews and Mary Katherine Persons Matthews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Matthews; and a grandson, Michael Brandon Milgrim.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Fears; three children, Eugene Milgrim Jr., Bloomsdale, Mo., Tonya Murphy, Swifton, and Steven Milgrim, Walnut Ridge; three sisters, Peggy Lowry and Kelly McPherson, both of Maynard, Mo., and Mary Jane King, Loves Park, Ill.; a brother, Sid Matthews, Rockford, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church.

Myra Sue Goodrich

Myra Sue Dunham Goodrich, 60, of Jonesboro, died Dec. 10, 2016, at her home, following a lengthy illness.

Born Dec. 16, 1956, in Walnut Ridge, she was a cosmetologist and cosmetology instructor for over 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Cravens Dunham.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Goodrich; a stepson, Stephen Michael Goodrich, Long Beach, Miss.; two brothers, Jack Dunham and wife Donna, Kona, Hawaii, and Al Dunham and wife Sherry, El Dorado; a sister, Marilyn Davis and husband Rick, Tellico Village, Tenn.; and two grandsons, Gavinn and Joey.

Visitation is today from 5-7 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home.

Graveside service is Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park with Bro. Jake Guenrich officiating. Bryan Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Myra requests that everyone who plans to attend her service dress in casual and comfortable jeans, flip-flops, etc. Her wishes were for the service to be short, sweet and full of memories that make everyone smile.

Loyce Leroy Goza

Loyce Leroy Goza, 86, of Swifton, died Dec. 12, 2016, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Sept. 8, 1930, in Swifton, he was the son of Cletos and Hemma Golden Goza. He was a retired self-employed mechanic and a member of the Swifton Assembly of God Church. He had lived his entire life in Swifton.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Royce and Millard; and a sister, Ina Pearl.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mildred Winfrey Goza; three sons, Larry Goza, Salem, Gene Goza and wife Linda, Jonesboro, and Dennis Goza and wife Kimberly, Burbank, Calif.; a daughter, Willene Goza Slavik and husband Paul Fulks, Heber Springs; a sister, Fern Dillin, Searcy; a brother, Cletos Goza and wife Janice, Brookhaven, Miss.; five grandsons, John Paul Goza, Jake Goza, Mark Slavik, Matt Slavik and Zephyr Goza; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral is Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Swifton with Bro. Carl Neal officiating. Burial was in Swifton Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rick Henderson, Kenny Crider, John Paul Goza, Jake Goza, Matt Slavik and Mark Slavik.

Joyce A. Helms

Joyce A. Helms, 64, of Pleasant Plains, died Dec. 6, 2016, in a Little Rock hospital.

Born Dec. 14, 1951, in Walnut Ridge, she was a homemaker and a member of the Flippo Chapel Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruby Stark Biggers.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Helms; two sons, Scott Helms and wife Karen, Harrison, and Shane Helms and wife Karen, Searcy; a brother, Freddie Biggers, Walnut Ridge; a sister, Mary Moody, Walnut Ridge; five grandchildren, Candace Helms, Brooke Helms, Hunter Helms, Shakeita Davis and Brent Bennett; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral was Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Flippo Chapel Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains with Dr. Terry Parrish and Keith Hays officiating. Burial was in Townsend Cemetery, near Smithville. Qualls Batesville Funeral Service had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Danny Davis, Lewis Chandler, Steve Caughron, Jason Bailey, Brian Garrett and Keith Hays.

Pauline W. Howard

Pauline W. Howard, 94, of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 8, 2016, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 1, 1922, in Strawberry, she was the daughter of F.K "Bud" and Verna Milligan Willmuth. She was in retail sales for 52 years, volunteered at Head Start and also worked the election polls for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wade Howard; a sister, Brenda Moore; and a son-in-law, Bob Hutcherson.

Survivors include a son, John David Howard and wife Terry, Walnut Ridge; a daughter, Paula Hutcherson, Walnut Ridge; three brothers, F.K. Willmuth and wife Nina, and Murphy Willmuth and wife Carolyn, all of Strawberry, and Charles Willmuth and wife Colleen, Cave City; two sisters, Mary Wanda Williams, Cave City, and Sue Ratliff and husband John, Conway; a brother-in-law, Bob Moore, Conway; five grandchildren, Rob Hutcherson, Holly Onstead, Kara Guinn, Brooke Harper and Paige Cunningham; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Cox Funeral Home with Jake Guenrich officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Williams, Mark Ratliff, Danny Ratliff, Mike Willmuth, Shane Cunningham and Eddie Witt.

Charles E. Moody Sr.

Charles E. Moody Sr., 79, of Jonesboro, died Dec. 5, 2016, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born May 22, 1937, in Hoxie, he was the son of Lynn and Nora Belle Manning Moody. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked for the U.S. Post Office until his retirement. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Ann Housdan Moody; his second wife, Linda Belle Burk Moody; two brothers, J.C. Moody and Kenneth Moody; and two sisters, Ruth Rosancawski and Betty Moody.

Survivors include four children, Charles Ernie Moody Jr. and wife Dana, Houston, Lesli Ann Betts and husband David, Green Cove Springs, Fla., Gregory Moody and wife Rosa, Pensacola, Fla., and Christy Tyler, Hoxie; two sisters, Caroline Sheet, Ash Flat, and Peggy Bruce, Crestview, Ill.; a brother, Bob Moody Sr., Walnut Ridge; eight grandchildren, Zackery Isbell, Nathan Moody, Amanda Moody, Mallory Davis, Ashley Weaver, Parker Wooten, Lucas Moody and Nathan Betts; 11 great-grandchildren; and his grandpups.

George Allen Porter

George Allen Porter, 86, died Dec. 2, 2016, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Sept. 18, 1930, he was a farmer most of his life in the Mississippi County area.

He had 10 children, all but two of whom reside in Lawrence and Craighead Counties. He is survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Saturday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m. at Trinity Cemetery in Bono with Bro. Rick Hart officiating. Faith Funeral Service in Manila had charge of arrangements.

Pete Rice

Vernon "Pete" Rice, 92, of Fayetteville, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 12, 2016, at his home.

Born Oct. 3, 1924, he was the son of Earl and Lona Bowling Rice. He worked in auto service and sales and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Walnut Ridge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carma Lee Casteel Rice; a son-in-law, Rick Davis; three brothers, Nathan, Truman and Harold Rice; and a sister, Monteen Luck.

Survivors include two daughters, Nyoka Rogers, Ardmore, Okla., and Rhonda Davis, Fayetteville; two grandsons, Jarrod Davis and Adam Davis; and seven great-grandchildren.

Wanda Smith Runyan

Wanda Smith Runyan, 85, of Black Rock, died Dec. 8, 2016, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born Oct. 2, 1931, in Leachville, she was the daughter of James and Lois Briggs Hollinseed. She had lived in Woodbury, Tenn., and Peru, Ill., before moving to Black Rock in 2007.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Runyan; a daughter, Carolyn Smith; a brother, James Hollinseed; and a sister, Lena Hull.

Survivors include a son, Ronnie Smith, Snellville, Ga.; a daughter, Pam Spence and husband Bryan, Imboden; a brother, Floyd Hollinseed, Phoenix; a sister, Christine Neighors, Bryant; two grandchildren; Carolyn Smith and Wade Spence; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. at Howard Funeral Service in Leachville with Rev. Jerry Clements officiating. Burial was in Leachville Cemetery.

John Calvin Russell

John Calvin Russell, 76, of Imboden, died Dec. 8, 2016, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born Aug. 6, 1940, at Denton, he was the son of John William and Grace Bolding Russell. He was a carpenter and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Carl Russell; a daughter, Teresa Russell; and three sisters, Marsha Thomas, Mary Slusser and Barbara Russell.

Survivors include a daughter, Emily Mitchell and husband Scotty, Paragould; two sons, Timothy Russell and wife Amanda, Pocahontas, and Nathan Russell, Smithville; three brothers, Harold Russell, Jonesboro, Tom Russell, Oklahoma, and Wesley Russell, Illiniois; and six grandchildren, Haily Russell, Nataly Mitchell, Jade Mitchell, Hayden Russell, Raiden Russell and Jayden Russell.

A memorial service and potluck will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Smithville Community Center. Burial will follow in Old Bethel Cemetery. Bryan Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

James Donald Sexton Sr.

Jimmie Donald "James" Sexton Sr., 78, of Michigan City, Ind., died Dec. 2, 2016, at Hospice Franciscan Communities in Michigan City.

Born June 19, 1938, in Strawberry, he was the son of Neal and Ruby Harris Sexton. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Bethlehem Steel, Burns Harbor after 33 years of service.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmie D. Sexton Jr.; and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn J. Ornstead Sexton, whom he married Nov. 23, 1984, in La Porte, Ind.; three sons, Christopher Sexton and wife Cindy, and Donnie Stroup, both of La Porte, Ind., Billy Stroup and wife Melena, Howe, Ind.; a daughter, Lorrine Stumpf and husband Jon, Indianapolis; a daughter-in-law, Dawn Stroup, La Porte, Ind.; five grandchildren, Brittney, Gabby, Tori, Brandon and Gretchen; and a great-grandchild.

The body was cremated. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory of La Porte had charge of arrangements.

Regina Paulette Simmons

Regina Paulette Simmons, 66, of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 8, 2016, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center.

Born Nov. 4, 1950, in Walnut Ridge, she had worked as a nurse for St. Bernards and was of the United Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Elizabeth Zimmerman Simmons; and two sisters, Hester Mae Kinder and Maggie Williams.

Survivors include four sisters, Pat Spurlock and husband Samuel, Jonesboro, Susan Shields and husband Ted, Hoxie, Debbie Monroe and husband Kenneth, Yadkinville, N.C., and Sherry "Babe" Harris and husband Joey, Alicia; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was Monday at 2 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Joey Harris officiating. Burial was in Markham Cemetery near Egypt.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Harris, Nathaniel Harris, Joey Simmons, David Simmons and Larry Simmons.

Trevor Allen Walling

Trevor Allen Walling, eight, of Pleasant Plains, died Dec. 10, 2016.

Born Dec. 26, 2007, in Searcy, he was the son of Reggie and Miranda Brewer Walling. He loved his big brother, baseball, basketball, climbing and playing outside. He loved nerf guns, Legos, cars, trucks and all things about being a boy. He was always full of life and was always ready for a trip or a roller coaster ride. Most of all, he loved his family and his church family. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church at Pleasant Plains.

He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Ida Mae Brewer.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Lucas Walling, Pleasant Plains; grandparents, Ronnie and Alice Walling, Jesup, and Howard Brewer, Cave City; his aunts, Brenda Melton, Strawberry, Rhonda Scott and husband Shannon, Jesup, and Sheila Daigle and husband Rory, Tumbling Shoals; and his uncles, Darren Walling and wife Heather, Jesup, and Mitchel Brewer and wife Janny, Cave City.

Funeral is today at 10 a.m. at Qualls Batesville Funeral Service with Bros. Jeff Neeley and Vance Penn officiating. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery at Cave City.

Uncles will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
