S-H, Pocahontas claim WBC titles
The 58th annual Williams Baptist College High School Tournament came to a close on Saturday with champions being crowned in the boys and girls divisions.
S-H - Riverside
The Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds overcame a slow start to defeat the Riverside Rebels 68-64 in the boys championship of the WBC Tournament on Saturday at WBC's Southerland-Mabee Center.
The Rebels opened up a 22-2 lead before the Greyhounds clawed their way back into the contest, getting within four at the end of the first half.
Hillcrest sweeps ICC
Hillcrest defeated Izard County Consolidated 54-41 in junior boys basketball Dec. 1 at Brockwell.
Hillcrest trailed 11-10 at the end of the first quarter, but came back in the second period to lead 23-21 at the intermission. The junior Screamin' Eagles pulled away to a 40-26 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Colton Rose led Hillcrest with 20 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Caleb James had 15 points and eight rebounds.
Cats have busy week
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats traveled to Paragould to take on the Crowley's Ridge Academy Falcons in high school boys basketball on Friday.
CRA won the senior boys game 61-46.
The Falcons were in front most of the way, leading 15-10 after one quarter, 27-24 at halftime and 47-38 at the end of the third period.

Lady Mustangs record victories
Hoxie's Lady Mustangs enjoyed a successful week on the basketball court, with the senior high team winning three games, and the junior Lady Mustangs remaining undefeated.
Sydney Gillham had 17 points and 13 rebounds as the Lady Mustangs defeated Highland 57-47 in senior girls basketball action Friday at Highland.
