WR council to fill vacant seat
The Walnut Ridge City Council will appoint a new alderman to fill the seat left vacant by Daniel Abbott, who died Saturday.
The appointment, which will take place at the December meeting, should a quorum be present, must pass on a majority vote, and the mayor holds no veto power.
Whoever is appointed will complete Abbott's current term and also enter into the next two-year term for which Abbott was reelected. To qualify, the appointee must reside in Ward 3 of Walnut Ridge.
