Doing our part
While most of us have our minds set on holiday food, time off from work or Black Friday sales, others are also preoccupied with upcoming community service projects and special events that make the holidays brighter. Local retailers have stocked their shelves in preparation for the Christmas shopping season and have their efforts focused on enticing local residents to shop at home.
How should we react to all of this? As good citizens, we should react in a supportive way. In reality, though, we can't all build floats, sing in a choir, serve meals, deliver food baskets or donate a lot of money to good causes. And you and I won't be doing all our shopping locally.
