Brittney Pinkston, daughter of Anthony and Ruth Pinkston of Walnut Ridge, recently sent a letter to one of her former high school teachers regarding the recent election and the privilege. Her dad shared the letter with me.
Brittney is a senior biology major at Williams Baptist College. He noted this year's election was her first presidential election in which to vote. Her letter provides some good thoughts and reminders on valuing the importance of our right to vote and being educated voters.
Pictures of the Past
Eldridge Neece and Cletis Rickey pose for a photo on the swinging bridge in Powhatan. They were married Nov. 5, 1950. Both were baptized in the Black River in the 1940s. Eldridge was baptized near the bridge, and Cletis was baptized at "Buttermilk Bend" near Pocahontas. (Pictures of the Past is a cooperative effort of The Times Dispatch and the Lawrence County Historical Society. Readers are encouraged to submit historic photos.)
