Cats fall to Paris in playoffs
The Paris Eagles outscored Walnut Ridge 21-0 in the second half to earn a 36-24 victory over the Bobcats in the first round of the 3A state football playoffs Friday night at Paris.
Walnut Ridge jumped out to an early lead on a 35-yard run by Colin Phillips at the 9:17 mark of the first quarter. Will Weir passed to Slade Dalton for the two-point conversion.
The Bobcats added to their lead when Luke Harper scored from three-yards out with 5:49 to play in the period. Weir passed to Cade Burris for the conversion and a 16-0 Bobcat lead.
Paris scored a touchdown late in the quarter, but the Bobcat defense stopped the conversion attempt.
S-H splits with Flippin
Sloan-Hendrix hosted the Flippin Bobcats for basketball homecoming Friday night at Imboden.
Flippin played spoiler in the senior girls game, defeating the Lady Greyhounds 54-49.
The Lady Bobcats jumped out to a 19-10 first-quarter lead and stretched the lead to 32-15 at halftime. Sloan-Hendrix fought back in the second half, outscoring Flippin 34-22 after the intermission, but couldn’t overcome the early deficit.
Emily Luffman scored 17 points for the Lady Greyhounds.
S-H, Hillcrest face off in basketball
The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles and Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds squared off in junior high and seventh-grade basketball action Nov. 7 at Imboden.
Sloan-Hendrix won the junior girls game 45-24.
Macy McCormic had 12 points, and Natalie King added 11 for Sloan-Hendrix.
Mickayla Smith led Hillcrest with nine points.
