Crowds fill Crider Field

Crowds of spectators filled the stands and sidelines of Hoxie High School's Crider Field for the first cross-town football game between the Hoxie Mustangs and Walnut Ridge Bobcats since 2007. It was senior night, the two schools' bands joined together for a halftime song, "Land of a Thousand Dances," and the old rivalry appeared good-natured and spirited.

Bike and pedestrian walking trails seem to be growing in popularity across the country. We can be proud that Hoxie and Walnut Ridge are on the forefront of the trend with our six-mile Rails to Trails path, which is nearing its sixth and final stage of development.

Pictures of the Past

This photo shows a 1949-1950 coffee/tea reception hosted by the Rebecca Andrews rug hooking club on Rebecca Lane in Walnut Ridge. Tim Campbell's grandmother, Barbara Campbell, is seated at the left side of the serving table. Among attendees were (standing, from right) Virginia Bland and Catherine Bell Ponder.
