WR Airport to leave
The Walnut Ridge Regional Airport Commission voted to leave the airport manager position open on a provisional basis.

The early voting period for the Nov. 8 General Election began on Monday, with Lawrence County residents casting their ballots in the conference room of the Lawrence County Courthouse in Walnut Ridge.
Early voting will be available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the two Saturdays during the early voting period. On the final day of early voting, Monday, Nov. 7, voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Nov. 8 election will include the presidential race, as well as two congressional positions. Republican John Boozman (incumbent) will face Libertarian Frank Gilbert and Democrat Conner Eldridge for the U.S. Senate seat, and Republican Rick Crawford (incumbent) will face Libertarian Mark West for the U.S. House of Representatives.
In addition, the voters will decide several local races, including the state representative race between Democrat James Ratliff (incumbent) and Republican Fran Cavenaugh.
Governor to speak
Gov. Asa Hutchinson will be the guest speaker at the annual Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce banquet. This year's event will be a luncheon banquet, set for Thursday, Nov. 10, at noon at The Studio in downtown Walnut Ridge.

In addition to the speaker, the banquet will feature the presentation of several awards, as well as the introduction of new board members and the recognition of retiring board members.
Cost for the event is $20 for Chamber members and $25 for non-members. The meal, which will include a choice of grilled pork steak or grilled chicken breast, green bean bundles, hashbrown casserole, garden salad, rolls, dessert and tea or water, will be catered by Chicken Shack Produce.
Black Rock Foothills is November 4-6The Black Rock Foothills Celebration will be held Nov. 4, 5 and 6 along Main Street in Black Rock.
A ham and bean supper will be held Friday, Nov. 4, from 5-8 p.m. at the Black Rock Community Center. Cost for the meal is $5 per adult and $3 per child. Live gospel music will be featured during the meal.
Saturday, Nov. 5, festivities will begin with the Lions Club Breakfast from 5-10 a.m. The meal is $5 per person.
Williams is BPW Woman of YearKaren Williams has been named the 2016-2017 Business and Professional Woman of the Year by the Walnut Ridge club. She was honored as part of last week's National BPW Week.
Karen has been in BPW 10 years. She is the immediate past-president and has served as club secretary. She is the owner of Karen's Flower Shop/Weddings by Karen and is married to Boyce Williams.
