Rivercrest's Kentavious Robinson ran for two of his four touchdowns in the fourth quarter to help the Colts come away with a hard-fought 28-20 win over the Walnut Ridge Bobcats in 3A-3 Conference football action Friday night at Wilson.
Robinson's first score came on a one-yard run with 6:13 remaining in the first quarter and gave the Colts a 7-0 lead.
The lead held until the 7:45 mark in the second quarter when the Bobcat defense forced a Rivercrest punt. The punter mishandled the snap and the loose ball was scooped up by Walnut Ridge's Colin Phillips, who raced 32 yards for a touchdown. Luke Harper ran for the two-point conversion, giving the Bobcats an 8-7 lead, which they held for the remainder of the half.
Walnut Ridge increased its lead to 14-7 in the third period when Harper scored on a one-yard run with 7:59 to play in the quarter. The two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
Rivercrest regained the lead on their ensuing drive, which was capped by Robinson's 13-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion, putting the Colts in front 15-14.
Walnut Ridge scored on Harper's one-yard run with 44 seconds remaining in the period. The pass attempt for two points fell incomplete, leaving the Bobcats with a 20-15 lead after three quarters.
The Colts wasted no time in retaking the lead when Robinson broke free for a 44-yard scamper just 12 seconds into the fourth quarter. The Bobcat defense stopped the two-point conversion, leaving Rivercrest with a 21-20 lead.
Robinson's final touchdown came on a two-yard run with 5:30 left in the game. The PAT gave Rivercrest a 28-20 lead, which proved to be the final score, as the Colts' defense stiffened in the final minutes and kept the Bobcats out of the end zone.
In addition to his four touchdowns, Robinson totaled 250 yards rushing on 26 carries.
Harper led Walnut Ridge's rushing attack with 114 yards on 14 carries. Wesley Friend added 31 yards on five carries, and Phillips finished with 24 yards on five carries.
Will Weir completed five-of-nine passes for 58 yards.
Friend caught two passes for 12 yards, and Slade Dalton had one reception for 38 yards. Michael Bounds had a six-yard reception, and Phillips had a two-yard reception.
The loss leaves Walnut Ridge with a 4-3 overall record, and a 1-3 mark in conference play. The Bobcats return to Sexton Field Friday night for a matchup with the Piggott Mohawks. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
