WR drops close

Rivercrest's Kentavious Robinson ran for two of his four touchdowns in the fourth quarter to help the Colts come away with a hard-fought 28-20 win over the Walnut Ridge Bobcats in 3A-3 Conference football action Friday night at Wilson.
Robinson's first score came on a one-yard run with 6:13 remaining in the first quarter and gave the Colts a 7-0 lead.
The lead held until the 7:45 mark in the second quarter when the Bobcat defense forced a Rivercrest punt. The punter mishandled the snap and the loose ball was scooped up by Walnut Ridge's Colin Phillips, who raced 32 yards for a touchdown. Luke Harper ran for the two-point conversion, giving the Bobcats an 8-7 lead, which they held for the remainder of the half.
Walnut Ridge increased its lead to 14-7 in the third period when Harper scored on a one-yard run with 7:59 to play in the quarter. The two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
Mustangs beat Osceola in high-scoring game
Chase Moore caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Chandler Spradlin with 10 seconds to play to give the Hoxie Mustangs their first win of the senior high football season Friday night at Crider Field. Spradlin ran for the two-point conversion, as the Mustangs defeated Osceola 50-42 in 3A-3 Conference play.
Derrell Brown Jr. put Osceola in front 7-0 with a 59-yard run early in the first quarter. Hoxie tied the game later in the period on Diamani Davis's 39-yard run and Ty Woodard's extra point.
Brown put the Seminoles back in front with a one-yard run, but the Mustangs answered on Spradlin's 32-yard scoring pass to Gunner Moore late in the quarter. Woodard's PAT tied the contest 14-14 after one period of play.
Lady Mustangs are conference champs
Hoxie wrapped up the regular season last week with wins against Pocahontas and Piggott. The Lady Mustangs are 3A Northeast Conference champions with a 20-3 overall record. Head coach Judy Goodwin was named the conference's Coach of the Year.
Hoxie hosted the Pocahontas Lady Redskins on Oct. 11 for Senior Night. The Lady Mustangs prevailed in four sets, 25-17, 25-22, 22-25, 25-15.
For Hoxie, Katelyn Jamison had six digs, three kills and was 13/14 serving. Kelsey Moody had 26 assists, three digs, nine kills and was 19/20 serving, with three aces. Kayla Roberts had four digs, 20 kills, three blocks and was 16/18 serving, with an ace.
Lady Cats wrap up season begin tournament action
The Walnut Ridge senior high volleyball team began play in the 3A Northeast Conference Tournament over the weekend in Paragould. The Lady Bobcats received the #4 seed and defeated Ridgefield Christian in a first-round match on Saturday.
Walnut Ridge dropped the first set to the Lady Warriors, 22-25, before bouncing back to win the next three, 25-19, 25-18, 25-15.
For the Lady Bobcats, Anna Wilcoxson had an ace and 24 digs. Baylee Burris was 15/17 serving, with three aces, 19 kills, four assists and nine digs. Baylee Davis was 18/18 serving, with two aces, two kills, eight assists and six digs. Baylee Haskins was 15/17 serving, with three aces, five kills, seven assists and three digs.
