Cats roll past Harrisburg
Walnut Ridge rolled up 44 first-half points en route to a 51-6 win over the Harrisburg Hornets in senior high football action Friday night at Harrisburg.
The Bobcat offense was led by Luke Harper, who rushed for 152 yards on 15 carries, and scored four-touchdowns. It was the second consecutive four-touchdown performance by Harper, who also ran for three scores in the season-opener against Poyen.
Walnut Ridge made short work of the Hornets, putting up 22 points in the first quarter, and adding 22 more in the second period. The Bobcats added seven points in the fourth quarter.
In addition to Harper, Colin Phillips finished with 82 yards rushing and one touchdown on 11 carries. Wesley Friend had 32 yards on nine attempts, and Drew Brewer carried four times for 29 yards.
Bobcat quarterback Will Weir completed five-of-seven passes, for 84 yards and a touchdown. He also had five carries for 18 yards and a touchdown.
Friend and Phillips each had two receptions for 42 and 37 yards, respectively, and Tristan Hoffman caught one pass for five yards.
Walnut Ridge moved to 3-0 on the season. The Bobcats open 3A-3 Conference play on Friday when they host the Manila Lions at Sexton Field. Game time is 7 p.m.
