Cats roll past Harrisburg
Walnut Ridge rolled up 44 first-half points en route to a 51-6 win over the Harrisburg Hornets in senior high football action Friday night at Harrisburg.
The Bobcat offense was led by Luke Harper, who rushed for 152 yards on 15 carries, and scored four-touchdowns. It was the second consecutive four-touchdown performance by Harper, who also ran for three scores in the season-opener against Poyen.
Mustangs fall to Cave City
The Cave City Cavemen defeated Hoxie 41-20 in front of a homecoming crowd at Hoxie's Crider Field Friday night.
Cave City opened the scoring on Joseph Patterson's 49-yard touchdown pass to Haston Bullard early in the first quarter. The Cavemen extended their lead on Alex Walker's 25-yard run with 4:13 to play in the period. Patterson passed to Walker for the conversion to give Cave City a 14-0 lead.
Lady Cats have winning week
The Walnut Ridge junior high volleyball team competed in the Blazer Blast tournament at Valley View on Saturday.
After going 1-7 in pool play, the junior Lady Bobcats advanced to Silver bracket play, where they placed second. Walnut Ridge defeated Hoxie and West Memphis in tournament play before falling to Wynne in the finals.
Sydney Burgin, Shyanne Foley and Katie Kersey were named to the All-Tournament team.
Lady Mustangs sweep Cave City
The Hoxie Lady Mustangs hosted Cave City in high school volleyball action on Thursday. Hoxie won both the junior and senior high matches in straight sets.
The senior Lady Mustangs dispatched the Cavewomen 25-9, 25-8, 25-14.
For Hoxie, Katelyn Jamison had eight digs, two kills, and was 13/13 serving, with three aces. Kelsey Moody had nine assists, three kills, two blocks and was 10/11 serving, with five aces. Kayla Roberts tallied three digs, four kills and was 6/6 serving, with an ace.
