Mustangs drop game to Westside
Westside's Kody Anderson returned the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown and the Warriors never looked back, defeating the Hoxie Mustangs 40-0 in high school football action Friday night at Westside.
The score remained 7-0 until Garrett Robinson found daylight for a 29-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Tristin Escue kicked his second PAT to give Westside a 14-0 lead.
Austin Tyler hauled in a 21-yard touchdown reception later in the quarter to extend the Warriors' lead to 20-0 at halftime.
The Warriors added to their lead early in the third quarter on a four-yard run by Will Yearta. The PAT was no good, leaving Westside with a 26-0 lead after three quarters.
Westside added a pair of touchdowns and PATs in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
For Hoxie, Chandler Spradlin completed seven-of-10 passes, for 50 yards. He also rushed 10 times for 21 yards.
Gavin Waldrupe led the Mustangs in rushing with 24 yards on four carries. Diamani Davis carried 14 times for 20 yards, and Keifer Wilson had seven yards on four attempts.
Chance Moore had two receptions for 16 yards, while Chase Moore caught two passes for eight yards. Waldrupe and Colton Robins each had one reception for 10 yards apiece, and Wilson had one catch for six yards.
The Mustangs host Cave City for homecoming on Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
