Mustangs drop game to Westside

Westside's Kody Anderson returned the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown and the Warriors never looked back, defeating the Hoxie Mustangs 40-0 in high school football action Friday night at Westside.

The score remained 7-0 until Garrett Robinson found daylight for a 29-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Tristin Escue kicked his second PAT to give Westside a 14-0 lead.

Bobcats defeat EPC, 36-6

Luke Harper ran for four touchdowns as the Walnut Ridge Bobcats overcame an early deficit and went on to rout East Poinsett County 36-6 in senior high football action Friday night at Sexton Field.

EPC took a 6-0 lead on a 19-yard run by Chanc Gray midway through the first quarter.

Lady Mustangs earn wins

The Hoxie senior high volleyball team won both of its matches last week, defeating Midland in 3A Northeast Conference play on Aug. 29, and following up with a win at Highland on Thursday.


Hoxie swept the Highland Lady Rebels 25-10, 25-10, 25-10.

Lady Cats record wins

The Walnut Ridge senior high volleyball team enjoyed a successful week, earning wins over Pocahontas and Crowley's Ridge Academy.


The Lady Bobcats hosted Pocahontas on Thursday and defeated the Lady Redskins in four sets, 26-28, 25-15, 25-20, 25-20.
