Zoey Gracelyn Barton

Zachary and Elaina Barton of Lynn have announced the birth of a daughter, born July 12, 2016, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed eight pounds, four ounces, and has been named Zoey Gracelyn Barton.

Grandparents are Deshawn and Vivian Pankey of Lynn and Stacy Barton of Saffell.

She is the great-granddaughter of Melburn and Lois Sheets of Hoxie, Howard Pankey of Imboden and the late Carolyn Pankey and Pamelyn Martz of Salem and the late Lloyd Martz.

Devyn Burton

Devyn Nycole Burton, 20, of Walnut Ridge, died July 24, 2016, at UAMS Hospital in Little Rock.

Born March 29, 1996, in El Paso, Texas, she was the daughter of Greg Burton and Dawn Ward.

She was preceded in death by her pawpaw, Tom Gothard; and a great-grandmother, Joyce Ward.

Survivors include her father, Greg (Maribil) Burton, Dallas; her mother, Dawn (Jeremy Turner) Ward, of the home; three brothers, Jared Black and Jace Turner, of the home, and Preston Burton, Dallas; three sisters, Jada Turner, of the home, Julie Kincade, Pocahontas, and Austin Burton, Dallas; grandfather, Steve (Peggy) Ward, Walnut Ridge; grandmother, Anita Gothard, Cadiz, Ky.; an uncle, Jason (Natasha) Ward, Walnut Ridge; and an aunt, Chrissie Ward, Hoxie.

Graveside service was Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park with Bro. John Durham officiating. Bryan Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Joe Daughhetee

Joe Daughhetee, 65, of Maynard, died July 25, 2016, at his home.

Born July 13, 1951, in Walnut Ridge, he was a farmer and a rancher. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Mary Jo Henson Daughhetee; two brothers, Gaylin and Jim Daughhetee; and an infant grandson, Shawn David.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Brickley Daughhetee, whom he married Jan. 13, 1973; two daughters, Cheryl Johnson and husband David, Pocahontas, and Jennifer High and husband Sam, Biggers; a brother, John Daughhetee and wife Cloyis, Walnut Ridge; and four grandchildren, Savannah, Dakota, Stacey and Rayce.

Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning with Frank Hardwick officiating. Burial will be in Pirtle Cemetery at Peach Orchard.

Visitation is today from noon until 2 p.m.

Joann Claire Dickey

Joann Claire Dickey, 61, of Clover Bend, died July 25, 2016, at her home, after battling cancer.

Born April 12, 1955, in Westfield, Mass., she served in the U.S. Navy as a medical assistant and received the National Defense Service Medal. She was a businesswoman and co-owner of Sugar Ridge Records, the Nutra-Treat company and Dickey Tree Service. She was part owner of several copyrights and trademarks, as well as U.S. and foreign patents.

Survivors include her partner and husband of 34 years, Maylon Ed Dickey; a stepson, Maylon E. Dickey II, Caruthersville, Mo.; three sisters, Kathy M. Cassidy and husband Hank, Schenectady, N.Y., Shella A. Long and husband Joe, Agawam, Mass., and Theresa J. Becker and husband Cliff, Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren, Whitney, Taylor, Hunter and Hannah; and a great-grandson.

Services will be private.

William Dale Eagle

William Dale Eagle, 75, of Maynard, died July 24, 2016, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

Born April 21, 1941, in Maysel, W. Va., he was a member of the Maynard United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Clarence and Mary Adeline Johnson Eagle; and four brothers, Roy, Jerry, Donald and Ricky Eagle.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Lynn Cain Eagle; four daughters, Kim Martinez and husband Rick, Colorado, Shelia Britton and husband Blake and Melanie Davis and husband Rodney, all of Walnut Ridge, and Alice Mandrell and husband Cole, Judsonia; three stepdaughters, Jewel Fry and Janie Green, both of Hoxie, and Debra Nicholas and husband Darrell, North Dakota; four sisters, Vonda Robinson and husband Dave, Arizona, Patty Fields and husband Danny, Florida, Norma Haynes, Georgia, and Helen King and husband Kenny, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Maynard United Methodist Church with Alma Hastings officiating. Burial was in Maynard Cemetery. Fears Family Funeral Home of Pocahontas had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Cole Mandrell, Chris Nelson, Shane Smith, Jason Nelson, Darrell Nelson and Les McPherson. Honorary pallbearers were Chase Atchley, Corey Atchley, Mac Early, Blake Britton and Wesley Davis.

Deborah June Kluge

Deborah June Kluge, 67, of Jonesboro, died July 25, 2016, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born Feb. 23, 1949, at Clover Bend, she was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Bozeman; her second husband, Robert Kluge Jr.; her parents, Charles Lindsey and Anna Susan Simmons Counts; and a sister, Melva Massey.

Survivors include two brothers, Dale Counts, Alicia, and Charles Gale Counts and wife Helen, Tom Bean, Texas; and three sisters, Joy Fowler, Walnut Ridge, Wanda Peterson, Hoxie, and Lavoe Harber and husband Guy, Cordova, Tenn.

Funeral is Thursday at 1 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home with Rob Combs officiating. Burial will be in Clover Bend Cemetery.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation is Thursday from noon until time of the service.

Thomas Larry Leonard

Thomas Larry Leonard, 68, of Mountain Home, died July 16, 2016, in Bloomfield, Mo.

Born Jan. 5, 1948, in Sac, Iowa, he graduated from Mountain Home High School, where he held the record for the longest field goal for almost 50 years. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a three-time Purple Heart recipient.

He was preceded in death by his wife, ElDonna Workman Leonard, whom he married Nov. 9, 1987, in Walnut Ridge; a son, Ray Leonard; and his parents, David Oren and Neva Elizabeth Draper Leonard.

Survivors include a son Robert Leonard; two stepsons, D.J. Finch, Mountain Home, and Dennis G. Finch and wife Cindy, Floral City, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Zachary and Nathaniel Finch.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Promise Land Community Center. Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services of Mountain Home has charge of arrangements.

Susan Elaine Lobdell, 59, of Great Falls, Mont., died July 19, 2016, at Benifis Peace Hospice House in Great Falls.

Born July 20, 1956, in Oakland, Calif., she was the daughter of Clarence and Glenna Lyttaker.

Gary Wayne Maltbie

Gary Wayne Maltbie, 68, of Powhatan, died July 17, 2016.

He was a mechanic, ironworker and builder. He was a Vietnam War veteran, earning two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda; and father, Charles Maltbie.

Survivors include three sons, Sean Maltbie and wife Michelle, Grand Rapids, Mich., Aaron Maltbie, Flint, Mich., and Matthew Maltbie, Houston; a daughter, Danielle Maltbie, Paragould; his mother, Etta Bernice Maltbie, Rector; a friend, Dianne Barr, Powhatan; seven grandchildren, Ajia, Jack, Carlisle, George, Alivia, Ella and Sterling; and three great-grandsons.

No service will be held. A gathering for family and friends will be held in the near future.

Ralph Morrison

Ralph Morrison, 62, of Searcy, died July 15, 2016.

Born Aug. 19, 1953, in Walnut Ridge, he was the son of the late Virgil and Mabel Noth Morrison. He loved to bow hunt, fish and play golf. He was a bluegrass musician and enthusiast, and an avid fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Harding Bisons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wendell Morrison.

Survivors include two sons, Alan Morrison and wife Sarah, Fort Worth, Texas, and Christopher Morrison, Judsonia; a daughter, Donna Thomas and husband Biju, Searcy; two brothers, Jim Morrison and wife Linda and Kenneth Morrison, all of Russellville; and four grandchildren, Hunter, Libby, Eli and Eden.

Funeral was Saturday, July 23, at 2 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Care in Kensett. Burial was in White County Memorial Gardens.

Josephine Polson

Josephine Verkler Courtney Polson, 93, of Sheldon, Ill., died July 12, 2016.

Born Nov. 19, 1922, she was the daughter of Thurston “T.J.” and Bessie Miller Verkler, who lived in Black Rock. She worked as a quality control specialist for ESNA in Pocahontas. She was a member of the Household Science Club, Milford Women's Club, The Royal House of Fashion, the Red Hat Society and the Associate Member of Royal Neighbors (Stockland Camp).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Polson Jr., whom she married May 15, 1971, in Watseka, Ill.; a son, Jimmy Courtney; and 11 siblings.

Survivors include two sons, Austin Courtney, Pocahontas, and Jerry Courtney and wife Dolores, Cookeville, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Florence Courtney, Marion; a brother-in-law, Henry McFarland, Kokomo, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Barbara Verkler, Cabot; nine grandchildren, Sheryl Mercier, Jim Courtney Jr., Dale Courtney, David Courtney, Dean Courtney, Darrell Courtney, Jim Courtney, Ken Courtney and Carol Rabe; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday, July 16, at Fears Family Funeral Home in Pocahontas. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Gardens.

Wayne Roy Richey

Wayne Roy Richey, 58, of Lynn, died July 19. 2016, at his home.

Born Aug. 20, 1957, in Rockford, Ill., he was the son of the late Otis and Pauline Klaas Richey.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin Richey and wife Latisha, Pocahontas, and Eric Woodward and wife Julie, Conway; a daughter, Marla Clairday and husband Chad, Paragould; two brothers, Danny Richey and wife Kathey, Tulsa, Okla., and Bobby Richey and wife Ronda, Lafe; a sister, Margaret Cooper and husband Marty, Florida; and 11 grandchildren, Tristion, Tylor, Alexis, Ethan, Gavin, Logan and Sarah Clairday, and Taylor, Lilly, Zoey and Noah Woodward.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at Mt. Harmony Free Will Baptist Church in Saffell with Bros. R.J. Akers and Stanley Vandergriff officiating. Burial was in Dry Creek Cemetery near Lynn. Bryan Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Steve Turner, Chris Richey, Sammy Blevins, Charles Goff, Tylor Clairday and Josh Richey.

Evelyn Whitmire

Evelyn Virgie Whitmire, 86, of Walnut Ridge, died July 20, 2016, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro, following a sudden illness.

Born March 13, 1930, in Manila, she was the daughter of Clarence W. and Virgie Mae Swann Ward. She was a housewife and worked at the Hoxie School cafeteria. She was a member of Main Street Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Rex Whitmire, whom she married June 5, 1948; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Theodore Andrews; two sisters, Virl Pratt and Helen Ward; two brothers, Joe Ward and Cecil Ward; and a great-granddaughter, Sofia Grace Macias.

Survivors include three sons, David Whitmire and wife Janice, and Donald Whitmire and wife Teresa, all of Springdale, and Chris Whitmire and wife Lorra, Clover Bend; three sisters, Mary Lou Jean, Walnut Ridge, Colleen Anderson, Flint, Mich., and Linda Madar, Carlisle; two brothers, Willis Ward, South Carolina, and Ronnie Ward, Norfork, Va.; five grandchildren, John Andrews, Jason Andrews, Jimmy Whitmire, Mollie Macias and Mary Pennington; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Friday at 1 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Robert Davis and Rob Combs officiating. Burial was in Clover Bend Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Walter Hamm, John Hamm, Larry Jones, Robert Pratt, Jorge Macias and Mitch Whitmire.
