Hoxie to increase
The Hoxie City Council met July 12 where they took the following actions:
agreed to lease a second mosquito sprayer for $250 a month to allow for simultaneous spraying on opposite sides of the city.
authorized Mayor Lanny Tinker to enter into an agreement with Grady Auction and Realty for the sale of used equipment from the former Save-A-Lot store. The auction will be held Aug. 18 at the store.
reviewed required repairs for a cascade at the sewer pond. The bid was awarded to Miller-Newell for $23,000.
approved the Hoxie Volunteer Fire Department to apply for a GIF Fire Protection grant to purchase new turnout gear for firefighters.
tabled the resolution to purchase four acres of land for commercial development. The council had agreed to make the purchase at the May meeting, but some corrections need to be made to the resolution before its passing. The council will likely reconvene at a special meeting to vote on the resolution.
adopted the business continuity plan, which establishes procedure to be done to keep the city running in a natural or man-made disaster.
