Bold actions II
If you are similar to me, you have often thought and said, "Wouldn't it be great if we had this or that or if someone would only do ..." Wishful thinking is a lot easier than making a plan and pursuing that great idea with all the time and energy you can muster.
A friend recently mentioned some bold ideas and actions that have resulted in important institutions in Lawrence County. Three that came to mind were Williams Baptist College, Lawrence Memorial Hospital and The Children's Shelter. However, there are many others.
Pictures of the Past
Forty years ago, the Portia float won the competition in the Lawrence County Bicentennial Parade. Riding the float down Main Street in Walnut Ridge are Ott Anderson, Alex Latham, Riley Milligan, Pashia Dunlap, Skip Dulaney, Eric Dry, Shelia Eagle, Mandy Milligan, Steve Belew and Vickie Clark. Now a parking lot, Radio Shack and Dunham Jewelry can be seen in the background. (Pictures of the Past is a cooperative effort of The Times Dispatch and the Lawrence County Historical Society. Readers are encouraged to submit historic photos.)
