A matter of
We took our first whitewater rafting trip last Thursday on the Arkansas River in Colorado while on vacation. We reserved a two-hour afternoon float with Noah's Ark Whitewater Rafting and Adventure Co., in Buena Vista, Colo.
Cousin Hank McNabb's daughter, Hannah, is working as a guide for the company this summer, and Renee, Anna and I joined him on a trip to visit her. Noah's Ark distinguishes itself as a family-oriented, Christian-based business.
Pictures of the Past
This photo shows the aerial view of the Floyd Goodwin farm (Floyd can be seen on the tractor). The farm, located at Clover Bend, was built in 1938 as part of the resettlement project, and this photo was originally printed in The Times Dispacth in 1956, when it was taken, with the caption, if you can identify this farmstead you can have the photo. Floyd's son, Bob, and wife, Marilyn, live in the house now and still have the original photo. (Pictures of the Past is a cooperative effort of The Times Dispatch and the Lawrence County Historical Society. Readers are encouraged to submit historic photos.)
