Blythe Mackenzie Davis

Travis and Terren Davis of Paragould have announced the birth of a daughter, born on June 14, 2016, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed six pounds, six ounces, and has been named Blythe Mackenzie Davis. She has one brother, Aiden Shane Davis, three.

Grandparents are James and Vanessa Gray and Sheila Becker, all of Sedgwick, Carl Davis of Paragould and Mark Prichard of Hot Springs.

Johnnie Fears

Johnnie Harold Fears, 82, of Walnut Ridge, died June 14, 2016, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born June 3, 1934, in Alicia, he was the son of John and Etta Lucille Dunlap Fears. He served as an alderman for Walnut Ridge for 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alline Fears; and a brother, Clarence Fears.

Survivors include five sisters, Rita McGinnis and Faye Pickney and husband Darrell, all of Hoxie, Ina Pickney and husband Gilbert and Maye Bourisaw and husband Donnie, all of Walnut Ridge, and Barbara McClure and husband Bill, Trumann; and three brothers, Kenneth Fears and wife Shirley, Gerald Fears and wife Katie and Darrell Fears and wife Rose, all of Pocahontas.

Funeral was Saturday at 1 p.m. at Fears Family Funeral Home in Pocahontas with Jon Fears officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Keith Fears, Gilbert Pickney, Gerald Fears, Bill McClure, Kenneth Fears and Michael Bailey.

Teddy Horton

Teddy Glenn Horton, 71, of Walnut Ridge, died June 17, 2016, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born May 11, 1945, in Walnut Ridge, he was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He served as a law enforcement officer in Lawrence County, retiring after 23 years of service. He was a member of Aurora Masonic Lodge #423 and was of the Baptist belief.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Gaither Horton; his father, Willard T. Horton; and a sister, Sandra Horton.

Survivors include a son, Eric T. Horton, Walnut Ridge; his mother, Vera Lee Warner Horton, Black Rock; and two brothers, Thom Horton and wife Ruby, Frisco, Texas, and Ronald "Butch" Horton and wife Pam, Walnut Ridge.

Graveside service was Monday at 10 a.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park with Wayne Bryant officiating. Cox Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

David Dewayne King

David Dewayne King, 60, of Trumann, died June 7, 2016, at his home.

Born March 20, 1956, in Pocahontas, he was a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack King.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha Diane Walker King, whom he married April 2, 2011; a son, Mark King and wife Jessica, Bono; a daughter, Christina Moody, Myrtle, Miss.; his mother, Mildred King, Delaplaine; six brothers, Gary King, Dale King, Danny King, Troy King, Jay King and Jeff King; two sisters, Teresa Haff and Jannie Gray; a stepdaughter, Maesa Hibbs; five grandchildren, Haley Dean, Noah Moody, Madison King, Max Hibbs, Walker Hibbs; and a granddaughter on the way, Olivia King.

A memorial service was held Friday, June 10, at 2 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home with Danny Russell officiating.

Richard Earl Rainwater

Richard Earl Rainwater, 83, of Walnut Ridge, died June 16, 2016, at his home.

Born July 22, 1932, at Stoney Point, he was the son of Earl and Ader Hollaway Rainwater. He was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County and a member of the Church of Christ. He was a farmer and retired from the Lawrence County Road Department after 10 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Rainwater, whom he married June 25, 1955; a son, Jack Stroud; a grandson, Rodney Stormes; three brothers, a sister and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Thompson and husband Britt, Camden, Tenn., Faye Stormes and husband Danny, Walnut Ridge, Sandra Hathcoat and husband Gene, Jonesboro, and Iola Herschell and husband Greg, Apollo Beach, Fla.; five sons, Terry Rainwater, Panacea, Fla., Stan Rainwater and wife Laverne, Frank Stroud and wife Wayvon and Clay Stroud and wife Suzie, all of O'Kean, and Randy Rainwater, Walnut Ridge; six brothers, four sisters, 23 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren with two on the way.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Phillip Rainwater officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Matt Gillean, James Gillean, Jeremy Downum, Drew Rainwater, Brandon Crowell and Alan Rainwater. Honorary pallbearers were Leslie Stroud and Joshua Stroud.

Elizabeth Ann Simmons

Elizabeth Ann Simmons, 94, of Walnut Ridge, died June 15, 2016, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center.

Born Dec. 12, 1921, in Powhatan, she was the daughter of Charlie and Hester Sanders Zimmerman. She was a dedicated preacher's wife and a loving mother. She retired from St. Bernards Hospital after more than 20 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Simmons, whom she married May 10, 1943; two daughters, Hester Mae Kinder and Maggie Williams; seven brothers and a sister.

Survivors include five daughters, Pat Spurlock and husband Samuel, Jonesboro, Paulette Simmons, Lawrence Hall Nursing Center in Walnut Ridge, Susan Shields and husband Ted, Hoxie, Debbie Monroe and husband Kenneth, Yadkinville, N.C., and Sherry Harris and husband Joey, Pocahontas; a sister, Gladys Golden, Mooresville, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle Church in Hoxie with Rev. Ted Shields and Ken Monroe officiating. Burial was in Markham Cemetery near Egypt. Bryan Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Harris, Nathaniel Harris, Terry McPhink, Dr. Ted Shields, Isreal Shields, Joey Simmons, Calvin Simmons and David Simmons. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Armstrong, Jason Blackwell, Gene Davis and Jerry Burchfield.
