Pam Kopp resigns
as WR city clerk

Walnut Ridge City Clerk/Treasurer Pam Kopp has turned in her letter of resignation to the city council. The letter, dated June 17, stated her intended last day of work would be June 30.

She stated that after sustaining a recent stroke, she felt she could not perform the job that was expected of her, and the decision to resign was a difficult one to make.

"I have enjoyed working with each and every one of you, and hope you and your families are blessed. The future for the city of Walnut Ridge looks very hopeful and a lot of exciting things are to come."

The Walnut Ridge City Council appointed Sharon Henson to fill the vacant position after holding an executive session at Monday night's meeting. She will serve July 1 through Dec. 31, at which point the newly-elected clerk will be sworn in.

The filing period for Walnut Ridge city clerk/treasurer will open in late July.
