WR council to vote
on new wards
The Walnut Ridge City Council will consider three alternative ward redistricting proposals for the consolidated cities of Walnut Ridge and College City at Monday night's 6 p.m. meeting at the Walnut Ridge Police Complex.
The three proposals, drawn up by James Walden of Garver and Associates, will be available for review at the police complex from 3-5:45 p.m. prior to the meeting. Residents of Walnut Ridge and College City are encouraged to review the proposals and attend the meeting.
Walden informed Walnut Ridge Mayor Charles Snapp that College City didn't have the statistics needed to form its own ward within the newly consolidated city and would have to be integrated with pre-existing parts of Walnut Ridge to minimize population variance.
The overall population of the merged city of Walnut Ridge and College City is 5,345. Based upon equal division of that population, the ideal population for each ward is 1,336.
