Residents of Walnut Ridge and College City approved consolidation of the two towns in a special election on Tuesday.

Reunion, festival draw many to airport, museumThe 18th annual Walnut Ridge Army Airfield Reunion was held Friday and Saturday at the Wings of Honor Museum. A new addition this year was the Wings of Honor Festival, held on Saturday in conjunction with the reunion.
Harold Johnson, president of the Wings of Honor Museum Board, expressed his appreciation to the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce for partnering with the museum to plan the festival.
JPs vote to dissolve Eygpt Fire DistrictThe Lawrence County Quorum Court voted to dissolve the Egypt Fire District at Monday night's meeting.
The resolution passed originally had a section on returning taxes for services not provided to the homeowners but concerns about who that money would be owed to and whether services were provided or not led the court to strike that section.
Glisson is airport managerThe Walnut Ridge Regional Airport Commission met in executive session Tuesday to review applicants for the airport manager position.
The commission made the unanimous decision to offer the job to Maggie Glisson, who is originally from Pocahontas. She accepted the position following the meeting and will be returning to Pocahont
