Consolidation election is Tuesday
Registered voters in College City and Walnut Ridge will go to the polls on Tuesday to vote on the proposed consolidation of the two municipalities.
The ballot will include a vote on the consolidation itself and on the name of the consolidated city, Walnut Ridge or College City.
Polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and residents of both cities will vote at the Lawrence County Meeting Room in Walnut Ridge.
Early voting is underway at the Lawrence County Clerk's office and will continue through Monday.
Walnut Ridge and College City both ratified petitions for the consolidation of the two towns earlier this year.
Should the voters approve consolidating College City and Walnut Ridge, wards will be redrawn and a new city council will be elected in the November election.
