WR Airport seeking new manager
The Walnut Ridge Regional Airport is seeking applicants for a new airport manager after current manager Michelle Anthony turned in her letter of resignation on April 4.
Commission Chair Don Cavenaugh said Anthony has offered to help during this transition time until a new manager is hired. There are also a few open grants that Anthony helped to coordinate that she will consult on.
"I will complete my time here with the same dedication that you have come to expect from me," Anthony wrote in her letter of resignation. "I am happy to help train my replacement and answer any questions you or they may have."
Cavenaugh said no airport experience is required for the position, instead they are seeking someone who is community service oriented. "That's what the airport is about," he said. "It's service work."
Wanting to hire within the county, Cavenaugh said he hopes to conduct several interviews over the next couple of weeks and fill the position soon.
Until then, the airport is expected to run as usual with airport staff and Cavenaugh working together to take on some of the responsibilities the manager would normally handle.
Anthony, who has been with the airport for nearly five and a half years, has accepted the position of airport manager at the Arkadelphia Airport. Her final day at the airport will be Friday.
"I would like to thank you for providing me with an opportunity to develop my skill set while working at the Walnut Ridge Airport. Working here has been a great learning experience," Anthony wrote.
Interested applicants should submit their resume to Cavenaugh by mail at P.O. Box 429, Walnut Ridge, AR 72476, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by fax at 870-886-1151.
