Cats compete in tourney
The Walnut Ridge Bobcat baseball team traveled to southern Arkansas last week to compete in the Magnolia Spring Break Tournament hosted by Magnolia High School.
The Bobcats dropped their first game of the tournament to Camden Fairview 11-3 on Thursday.
Lady Cats record wins
The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats softball team picked up a pair of wins last week, defeating Salem in 2A-2 Conference action and outslugging Cedar Ridge for a 12-6 victory in a non-league game.
The Lady Bobcats got off to a fast start against Cedar Ridge in Newark on March 22, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning and a single run in the second. The Lady Timberwolves tallied three runs in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game 3-3. The Lady Cats broke the game open by outscoring Cedar Ridge 8-1 over the next two frames to take an 11-4 lead. Walnut Ridge added a run in the sixth inning and held the Timberwolves to a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to set the final score.
