Evangeline Ruth Sloan

Drs. Tony and Valerie Sloan of Jonesboro have announced the birth of a daughter on March 8 at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed seven pounds, nine ounces, and has been named Evangeline "Evie" Ruth Sloan.

She has three older siblings, Jack, 12, Olivia, 11, and Jake, six.

Grandparents are Sloan and Ann Turnbow of Walnut Ridge and Mrs. Daniel Sloan of Searcy.

Sheryl Lynn Blackwell

Sheryl Lynn Johnson Blackwell, 51, of Pocahontas, died March 27, 2016.

Born Aug. 3, 1964, in Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of the late J.T. and Beverly Duckworth Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Johnson.

Survivors include her husband, Anthony Blackwell; a daughter, Jennifer Nelson, Pocahontas; a son, Erick Nelson and Kaylee, Jonesboro; two sisters, Darlene McQuay and husband Roger, Pocahontas, and Amy Johnson and Gary Bookout, Walnut Ridge; a brother, Bryan Johnson and Gina, Walnut Ridge; and seven grandchildren, Audrina, Cole, Kainen, Ayden, Gabe, Peyton and Tucker.

Visitation is Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Funeral is Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Janet Marie Carroll

Janet Marie Carroll, 51, of Jonesboro, died March 28, 2016, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Aug. 20, 1964, in Jonesboro, she was an RN at NEA Baptist Hospital for over 10 years, and also worked in several nursing homes.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hal Hallmark.

Survivors include a son, Aaron Carroll, of the home; her mother, Ruth Hallmark, Jonesboro; a sister, Michele Sloan and husband Patrick, Black Rock; a niece Bridget Sloan; and two nephews, Christopher Sloan and Brandon Sloan.

Funeral is Friday at 1 p.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Bill Legere officiating. Burial will be in Worley Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Sloan, Christopher Sloan, Brandon Sloan, David Hallmark, Don Hallmark and Brandon Coburn. Honorary pallbearer will be Ernest Hallmark.

Visitation is Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joe Crawford

Joe Crawford, 82, of Black Rock, died March 23, 2016, at his home.

Born Aug. 28, 1933, in Bay, he was the son of James Earl and Stella Mae Hamilton Crawford. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a retired fire chief for Marianna. He was the owner and operator of Crawford Printing Company and was a member and deacon of Cross Roads Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Neoma Joyce Austin Crawford, whom he married June 8, 1952; a daughter, Phyllis Crawford; a brother, James Crawford; and a great-grandson, Nico Ferguson.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Crawford and wife Pam, Heber Springs; two daughters, Pam Ferguson, De Valles Bluff, and Ellen Woodyard, Beebe; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bro. Lynn Garmroth officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Chad Crawford, Jeff Foree, Hunter Woodyard, Jeremy Ferguson, Rick Brewer, Dewayne Gillean and Stanley Schmidt. Honorary pallbearer was Tom Dodd.

Bill Davis

William E. "Bill" Davis, 67, of Walnut Ridge, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016, at his home.

He was born March 26, 1948, in Walnut Ridge, to Alvin Wilson and Vivian Maxine Austin Davis. He married Sarah Gregory Kennemer on July 25, 1997, in Black Rock.

Bill was a lifelong resident of Walnut Ridge, and was well known for his work ethic. His working career included Frolic Footwear, Norgas, Snapp Motor Company and Farm Service, Inc.

Bill was a graduate of Walnut Ridge High School and Southern Baptist College. He attended Hoxie United Methodist Church.

Bill was an avid golfer and enjoyed being outside and working in his yard. He was always available for his family's needs, and he loved his wife, children and grandchildren very much. He felt he was blessed far more than he deserved.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Davis of the home; sons, Blaine (Nikki) Davis of Walnut Ridge, and Garett Davis of Paragould; daughters, Laura (Chris) Madden of Jonesboro, and Erin (Ryan) Manning of Walnut Ridge; a brother, Bobby (Vicky) Davis of Walnut Ridge; sisters, Barbara Clark of Tampa, Fla., and Patricia (Otis) Register of Winnsboro, S.C.; grandchildren, Mackenzie Collier, Drew, Emoree, and Jack Davis, Grace and Barrett Madden, and soon to be born, Eva Manning.

Visitation for Bill Davis was Monday, March 28, 2016, from noon-2 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Funeral service followed at 2 p.m. with Bob McMillon and Garry Wiles officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Byron Blanchard, Dave Fowler, Larry Jones, Phil Kissee, Mike Phillips and Bob Mike Watson. Honorary pallbearers were Benson Hart, Frank Davis, Tommy Allen, Sonny Bilbrey, Bob Malone, Carl Sullivan, Bob Davis and Gene Bradley.

Rodney Kissee

Rodney Kissee, 62, of Powhatan, died March 28, 2016, at Powhatan.

Born Oct. 17, 1953, in Illinois, he was a construction worker and was of the Baptist belief.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheri Howard; and his father, J.W. Gettle.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Kissee; a son, Justin Kissee, Florida; his mother, Ethel Gettle, Hoxie; two sisters, Pam Manning, Walnut Ridge, and Paulette Phillips, Washington; a brother, Robert Dale Kissee, Wisconsin; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is Friday from 6-8 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Graveside service is Saturday at 11 a.m. at Strangers Home Cemetery.

El Donna Kay Leonard

El Donna Kay Leonard 65, of Mountain Home, passed away March 21, 2016, in Mountain Home.

Born Sept. 25, 1950, in Logan, W.Va., she had lived in Mountain Home since moving from El Paso, Texas, in 1981. She enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time at the Buffalo River.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donovan and Ethel Morris Workman.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Leonard, whom she married Nov. 9, 1987, in Walnut Ridge; two sons, D.J. Finch, Mountain Home, and Dennis G. Finch and wife Cindy, Floral City, Fla.; a brother, Donald Workman Sr., Jonesboro; and four grandsons, Nicholas, Andrew, Zachary and Nathaniel Finch.

Funeral services were private. Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services of Mountain Home had charge of arrangements.

Dr. James Little

Dr. James Nolan Little, 88, of Walnut Ridge, died March 26, 2016, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center.

Born Nov. 11, 1927, in Paragould, he was the son of James A. and Elsie M. Gay Little.

He spent his early years growing up in the Center Hill community. After graduating high school, he attended Ouchita Baptist for a short time before going on to the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, where he graduated with a doctorate degree. He practiced optometry in Walnut Ridge for 40 years and was a member of First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Orinta Henkel, Elwanda Campbell and Louisine Keller.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Betty Little, whom he married May 28, 1949; a daughter, Deborah Lamb and husband Jerry, Jonesboro; and a granddaughter, Michelle Brown.

Graveside service was Monday at Lawrence Memorial Park with Everett Hart officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Rejoyce Rose Morris

Rejoyce Rose "Joy" Morris, 99, of Conway, died March 24, 2016.

Born March 14, 1917, in Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of Paulus Edmund "P.E." and Garnet Fogle Rose.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Morris; two brothers, Elgin Rose and X.L. Rose; and two sisters, Colleen LeBolt and Wanda Rose.

Survivors include a son, Robert Morris and wife Anita, Conway; a daughter, Diane Schrekenhoffer and husband Thomas, Sherwood; five grandchildren, Dana Wallis, Lisa Wilson, Susan Blagg, David Morris and Mike Morris; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is today from noon-1 p.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Funeral is at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Cherie Ophelia Narramore

Cherie Ophelia McGhee Narramore, 48, died March 18, 2016, in Batesville.

Born July 9, 1967, in Hammond, Ind., she was formerly of Strawberry and a homemaker and a member of Ramsey Heights Baptist Church in Batesville.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kristina Marie Narramore; and her grandparents, Glenn and Wilma McGhee, and Flowrene Dickison and Hardaway Dickison.

Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Narramore Ninemire and husband Andrew; her mother, Ophelia McGhee, Strawberry; her father, Wayne McGhee and wife Brenda, Mountain View; two sisters, Kerie MacDowell and husband Mike, Columbia Falls, Mont., and Terie Shipman and husband Herbert, Hot Springs; two stepbrothers, Jeffrey Reynolds and wife Brandy, Heber Springs, and Jason Reynolds and wife Melissa, Rose Bud; and a stepsister, Jennifer Collier and husband Terron, Cordova, Tenn.

Funeral was Tuesday, March 22, at 1 p.m. at Ramsey Heights Baptist Church in Batesville with Bro. Aaron Maxwell officiating. Burial was in Lancaster Cemetery at Strawberry under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Mountain View.

Braylee Dawn Antrim-Stewart

Braylee Dawn Antrim-Stewart, infant daughter of Michael Lee Stewart and Katarina Nicole Antrim of Walnut Ridge, died March 26, 2016, at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, at the age of one month and 15 days.

She was born Feb. 10, 2016.

She was preceded in death by a grandmother, Angela Dawn Stewart; and a great-grandfather, Frank Saterfiel.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by grandparents, Barbara Antrim, Hoxie, Earl Antrim, Venice, Fla., and Bobby Ray Stewart, Bono; and great-grandparents, Vern and Rose Enders, St. Joseph, Mich., Thomas Jr. and Dianne Antrim, Niles, Mich., and Lottie Saterfiel, Walnut Ridge.

Arrangements will be announced by House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Mildred Williams

Boneta Mildred "Millie" Baldridge Williams, 88, was born in Powhatan on Oct. 30, 1927, to Harry Virgle and Laura Whittaker Baldridge.

As valedictorian of her high school class, she was intelligent and showed early signs of success. She used her intelligence and, with hard work, became a very successful businesswoman, owning her own hair salon in Illinois.

After marrying her second husband, Elmer Williams, they relocated to Florida. Millie attended Living Word Church in New Port Richey. She was active in the ladies' quilting group for 10 years, and loved supporting missions.

Much more important to Millie than her "smarts" or success was being a person of integrity and kindness, which was the testimony of her life. She was kind and compassionate to everyone she met, and she loved being around people.

Millie went to be with her Heavenly Father and lord, Jesus Christ, on March 28, 2016.
