A fire in the middle of the night on March 16 resulted in the death of a teenager, as well as four injuries.
The Black Rock Fire Department was paged to a structure fire on County Road 239 in the Baltz subdivision at approximately 2:13 a.m.
When firefighters arrived, the home was fully engulfed and one individual, Ashlynn Tubbs, 13, was believed to still be in the home. A fatality in the fire has been confirmed, with the body having been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab.
Four others suffered injuries in the fire, with two being taken to St. Bernards and two being flown to Memphis.
Imboden and Walnut Ridge firefighters also assisted. Imboden firefighters assisted at the scene, as well as with an emergency landing zone on Highway 117, and Walnut Ridge firefighters helped with a landing zone at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital helipad.
Firefighters battled the blaze until 4:43 a.m., and the home was a total loss. A GoFundMe site has been established under "Please Help the Tubbs Family," and the Forgotten 3 Motorcycle Club in Black Rock is also accepting donations for the family at their building, which is located at the corner of Main and Second streets.
