Jumpstart Animal Shelter
The Jumpstart Animal Shelter, a collaboration between the city of Walnut Ridge and Jumpstart Ministries, is up and running with several success stories already to share.

"We always get excited when someone comes to pick up a dog," Troutman said. "We're trying to get these animals to have a better life. We want them to have homes and not cages. "
Through the efforts of many in the Jumpstart program and other volunteers, Nick Troutman with Jumpstart said there have already been several adoptions out of the shelter.
Mother strives to spread word about CMV
While the Zika virus is receiving massive amounts of media attention, a Walnut Ridge mother is continuing her efforts to make sure people know about a virus that is already present throughout the United States.
For Jennifer Lewis, whose 18-month old daughter Preslee Skye was affected by Cytomegalovirus (CMV) while in the womb, it is unacceptable that CMV is not in the news, and even more unacceptable that information isn't being given to expectant mothers.
Householder runs for a reason,

THE RACE: Deana and I traveled to NOLA (New Orleans, La.) for the weekend to participate in the Rock 'n' Roll series marathon. We arrived Friday and spent the evening with my cousin and his wife from Broken Arrow, Okla., eating dinner and enjoying beignets and coffee at Cafe Du Monde along the Mississippi River.
