MLK, Jr. Commission officials
The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce hosted a reception and supper Sunday evening at The Studio in Walnut Ridge to welcome members of the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission to Northeast Arkansas.
visit prior to 'Remember Hoxie'
The MLK, Jr. officials, many of whom were from central Arkansas, were in the area for the 2016 Nonviolence Youth Summit 16: "Remember Hoxie" that was held Monday at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.
Commission discusses drainage
The Walnut Ridge Airport Commission discussed drainage issues and concerns regarding farmland boundaries at Monday night's meeting.
Recent farmland lessee Ronald Cavenaugh proposed adjustments made to the boundaries on the farmland he is to work at the airport. He proposed pulling back on the property lines to have all farmable land outside of the runway approach zone.
Primary is Tuesday
The Arkansas Preferential Primary is Tuesday, and Lawrence County voters can go the polls from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Early voting is also underway in the County Clerk's Office, located in the Lawrence County Courthouse in Walnut Ridge.
Tennison stresses importance of community service
For Taylor Tennison community service projects have become a way of life.
Whether the Hoxie senior is organizing a Make-A-Wish team, helping recruit new teen members for the March of Dimes or serving a meal to the needy, he strives to help others while at the same time being a good role model to others around him.
