Looking forward
to warm weather

The groundhog predicted an early spring this year, and by looks of the temperatures forecast for the remainder of this week, with high 60s to 70 degrees, the groundhog may be accurate. The days are noticeably getting longer, and I was told that Daylight Saving Time begins on March 13, in just a little more than three weeks and a week before the first day of spring on March 20.

Pictures of the Past

A lady, believed to be Annie Boas Gibson, sits on a railroad car in Hoxie in the early 1920s. The two tall, brick buildings behind her are separate wings of the large, U-shaped Boas Hotel, viewed from the rear. Mrs. Gibson and her husband, John S. Gibson, built this hotel in 1913. The white building on the far left was their home. Both the home and hotel were destroyed by fire in 1931. In 1935, the house was rebuilt in a Tudor style and still stands today on Southwest Texas (Hwy. 67).
