WR, Hillcrest split games
Walnut Ridge hosted Hillcrest in senior high basketball action Friday night.
Hillcrest won the senior girls game 61-45, as four Lady Screamin' Eagles scored in double figures.
Walnut Ridge led 27-25 at halftime, but Hillcrest outscored the Lady Bobcats 14-7 in the third quarter to lead 39-32 heading into the final period. The Lady Eagles outscored Walnut Ridge 22-13 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
S-H defeats Hillcrest
Sloan-Hendrix defeated Hillcrest 77-52 in senior boys basketball on Feb. 9 at Lynn.
The Greyhounds were in control from the outset, leading 25-14 at the end of the first quarter, 44-31 at halftime and 70-53 after three periods.
Tyler Murphy led Sloan-Hendrix with 27 points, four assists, four steals and five deflections. Matt Wilkins finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals, and Hunter Stallings added 13 points and five steals.
Lady Mustangs beat Cave City
The Hoxie Lady Mustangs defeated Cave City 53-48 in senior girls basketball Friday night at Cave City.
Hoxie led 13-6 after one quarter, 28-20 at halftime and 41-36 after three quarters.
Sydney Gillham led the Lady Mustangs with 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Devyn Pollard added 14 points.
S-H sweeps Maynard
Sloan-Hendrix swept a pair of senior high basketball games from Maynard Friday night at Imboden.
In the senior boys game, Maynard jumped out to a 17-14 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Greyhounds regrouped in the second period and led 33-26 at halftime. The Hounds continued to pull away in the second half and held a commanding 55-39 lead after three quarters. Sloan-Hendrix outscored the Tigers 19-17 in the fourth quarter to close out the game.
WR splits with Piggott
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats hosted the Piggott Mohawks in non-conference basketball action on Feb. 9.
The senior boys game went to overtime before the Bobcats came away with a 90-82 win.
Walnut Ridge led 33-24 at halftime, but Piggott rallied to tie the game 48-48 at the end of the third quarter. The teams were tied again, 74-74, at the end of regulation. The Bobcats outscored the Mohawks 16-8 in the extra period to take the win.
