A rich and full
life celebrated

The many friends of the Hutcherson family are saddened this week with the passing of the family patriarch, Robert L. Hutcherson, better known as "Hut." We wish he could have had nine lives, but he did get a chance for a second life on Earth when he underwent lung transplant surgery some 15 years ago at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Pictures of the Past

The old Lawrence County Courthouse in Walnut Ridge is depicted on this hand-painted china plate from Vienna, Austria, made in 1905. Owned by Lesa Walter, the back is stamped "Mrs. Ed Marx, Dry Goods, Shoes, Millinery, and everything to wear." The Marx store was located on the first block of West Main, across the street from the Hotel Rhea. (Pictures of the Past is a cooperative effort of The Times Dispatch and the Lawrence County Historical Society. Readers are encouraged to submit historic photos.)
