WR posts homecoming wins

Walnut Ridge's basketball teams entertained a homecoming crowd with three lopsided victories over Ridgefield Christian Friday night at Sharum Gymnasium.

The Walnut Ridge senior girls defeated the Lady Warriors 60-19.

Walnut Ridge led 19-5 at the end of the first quarter, 31-9 at halftime and 53-16 after three quarters.

Sunnie Cunningham scored 14 points, and Kelly Lee added 10 for the Lady Bobcats, who improved to 6-11 on the season.

Walnut Ridge won the junior girls game 37-18.

Walnut Ridge's senior boys also had an easy time, routing the Warriors 62-33.

The Bobcats led 17-6 after one quarter, 32-19 at halftime and 50-27 after three quarters.

Spencer Wilson led the Cats with 18 points. Kyle Nunley had 17 points, and Kenzie Flippo added 16. The Bobcats improved to 18-2 overall.

White County Central

The Bobcats traveled to Judsonia on Thursday to take on White County Central in 2A-2 conference action.

Walnut Ridge won the senior boys game 60-36.

The Bobcats led 15-8 at the end of the first quarter, 27-12 at halftime and 44, 29 after three quarters.

In senior girls action, the Lady Bobcats outlasted the Lady Bears for a 38-27 victory.

WCC led 10-7 after one quarter, but the Lady Cats came back in the second period to take a 17-13 lead into the locker room at intermission. Walnut Ridge stretched its lead to 26-17 after holding WCC to just four points in the third quarter. The Lady Bobcats outscored White County 12-10 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Whitney Rider scored 12 points, and Cunningham finished with 11 for Walnut Ridge.

Walnut Ridge won the junior girls game 26-23.


Walnut Ridge defeated Pangburn 70-60 in senior boys conference action on Jan. 26 at Pangburn.

Walnut Ridge led 19-7 after one quarter, 37-25 at halftime and 53-37 at the end of the first quarter. Pangburn outscored the Bobcats 23-17 in the final period to set the final margin.

Flippo scored 25 points, and Nunley had 22 to lead the Bobcats.

The Walnut Ridge junior boys defeated Pangburn 41-19.

Pangburn's Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Bobcats 72-41.

Pangburn led just 20-14 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored Walnut Ridge 18-5 in the second period to increase their lead to 38-19. The Lady Tigers led 58-36 after three quarters before outscoring the Lady Cats 14-5 in the fourth quarter.
