Governor requests declaration
Governor Asa Hutchinson has submitted his request for a Federal Disaster Declaration to President Obama for 37 counties in Arkansas due to severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that began in late December.
Lawrence County is included in the declaration, as well as neighboring counties Greene, Randolph, Independence and Jackson.
Preliminary damage assessments estimate more than $17 million in damages. The request is for Public Assistance services and Individual Assistance services from the federal government.
These services could include the following: direct funding for affected counties and/or individuals, hazard mitigation funds and Small Business Administration disaster loans.
